Term 4 starts today, and we took the regular ‘Rock’ shot of Grace.
Amazing to see how much she has grown since the first day of Term 1 in the same uniform!

Grace is starting Hockey next week, so we got her the required gear today, and she had to give it a try.
She looks MEAN with the black mouthguard!
I love this photo Leah took of Eli and I having races on the deck in the sun.
Might need to get a slightly larger bike for myself in future though!
Tonight was a pretty special Aurora apparently, and was visible even to the naked eye from the suburbs, despite the light pollution from houses.
You couldnt quite see it from our place, but 5 minutes away it was pretty clear, even with a dodgy mobile phone photo or two!
Someone wanted a photo of the towbar on the ute today as he needed a specific tow rating for his boat.
Not sure how he could tell by a photo, but apparently you can!
I know I work with them every day, and when they work, they work well.
But Gosh I hate when Computers don't do what they should.
Jacks 3rd Birthday party today, and the kids all had a ball.
Eli was such a boy playing in the gravel with the older cousins, and Grace…well Grace was Grace!
First night that its been warm enough to wear short sleeve pyjamas is a historic moment and obviously required a photo!
I love this one, how totally happy Eli looks to be with Grace!
Today we decided to wing it for a trip up the East Coast, with a view to possibly staying overnight.
We drove to Bicheno and the Wildlife Park there, to realise it was so hot and so windy, it wasnt worth staying.
So instead, we visited the wildlife park (the highlight of which was a dodgy play area, and icypoles!) and then headed home via Campbelltown for a stop at the park there.
Graces Cartwheels are coming along nicely though!
We had run out of dishwasher tablets today, and had the amazingly bright idea to use regular dishwashing detergent instead.
After cleaning up the frothy suds that were running out of the front of the dishwasher after 10 minutes, we dared open the drawer and take a look.
My advice – DONT DO IT.
Apparently there was a step competition on today, though neither Leah nor myself had any real clue about it!
I knew I had no hope, but just for a giggle did take a screenshot from my watch at some stage during the day.
Needless to say, sitting and typing at my computer does NOT help with the step count.
Sitting in my office today and this dog wanders in, starts barking at me, and then wandered back out again.
The joys of working for a Council!
I finally decided it was time to reset my phone today to clear some storage space and speed it up again.
Which means the only pics I have for today are the few screenshots I took of my apps and settings.
Yes, I know we are a little behind the fad of loom bands, but they are now super cheap (and not popular at all) which meant we bought some to try for Grace.
I showed her how to make a basic bracelet with the little set we got, and she got the hang of it really well, and made her first ever rainbow bracelet today!
A weekend at Launceston, and the first place we went was the Platypus world.
While the Platypusses (or pussies, or pii) were hard to get photos of, the highlight was definitely the walk through Echidna enclosure, where they just wandered around with us!
Then on to City Park where we stayed in a motel very close, so Eli got to ride his bike to the park
An evening pyjama party disco at Crocs playcentre and Eli and Grace both had an absolute ball of a time!
They both partied on until well after 8pm! Animals!
We are trying to sell or swap the ute at the moment for something that we can actually all fit in properly, and tonight I had a look at this Pajero.
Its nice, big, plenty of room. After the other cars I've looked at so far, it’s definitely the Front runner so far.
I know I've posted it a number of times this year already – but I have to admit, our kids really are an odd pair.
No matter how hard we try, we CANNOT get a normal photo of either one these days!
They both have to ‘pose’ for the photos.
Footy Finals Fever has even hit Kinder, with the kids wearing their team colours to school.
Luckily we had a pair of ‘donated’ Hawthorn shorts, so Grace wore them happily, and had to get a quick lesson in what AFL was and the various teams on the way to school.
Grace has been wanting to go to the Botanical Gardens, so today since the weather was good, I took the kids for a visit.
They both loved it, and its funny to see how much Eli wants to follow Grace and do the same things as her.
Though he did look rather tiny on the stairs under the arch!
After a Long play date with Lacey from her school, Grace decided she wanted to show me how high she could climb to get to the HUGE slide at the park.
Except without Lacey to encourage her (or show-off to?) Grace looked a ‘little’ concerned about the height when she went to show me!
I never thought I would say this in relation to ANYTHING containing Avocado, but YUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
School Excursion to the Wildlife park today, and I went along as Parent Help.
The kids seemed to love it, especially getting the pat so many animals and feed the Kangaroos.
Aside from a slight issue with Dropping a Sharpie into the Tasmanian Devil enclosure and having to get a ranger to retrieve it, the went well!
Im not certain that the plumbing we got done on Sunday went so well after all……..
I believe that water should be INSIDE the pipes.
A long day working with the Plumber to run new water and waste pipes for the kitchen relocation, but despite a few ‘issues’ we got it done in the end.
Really happy with the new kitchen layout and location, makes it feel much better.
Just have to finalise the benchtops and doors and we will be in action!
When I got home from work this afternoon, THIS is what greeted me at the door.
Interesting combination I thought!
I think I had this photo, to show me the labelling on the packs so I could buy the Chocolate version.
That's the ONLY logical explanation as to why I would have anything Almond related in my photos!
This little Magpie appears at the door to my office almost every day, and about the same time in the afternoon. Today, I took a (dodgy blurry) photo.
For reasons that will be forever unknown to me, there are absolutely no photos of me as a baby, or even at Eli’s age. Not a single one. I think the youngest picture I recall my Mum having is when I was about 4. So I have no real idea of what I looked like as a baby, or what I liked to do.
However, with a quick old nostalgia filter on this photo of Eli – If you substitute the red hair for blonde, I reckon this is about as close to a baby photo of me as I’m ever going to get.
And I like to think that had there been any photos of me, I would have been doing something odd and quirky like this too!
For Fathers Day we decided we MUST get out and do something.
And with the lack of things to do in Hobart, we went to the Tesselated Pavement to have a look at sea creatures, followed by lamingtons at the Bakery and a play at a cool park at Dunalley.
I got some cool gifts, including an awesome Pineapple Cup with Straw, for my water at work, and Grace made a nice card and interesting fact sheet at school about me!
Seems all these years of answering ‘Chicken’ to 99% of Graces questions has finally paid off!
The Kids just LOVE dancing together at the moment. Doesn't seem to matter what song, what style, or where and when it happens. But they often do need Props!
Dancing and music is definitely in their blood!
For some reason, the kids LOVE going to the Brighton Bakery for a cookie. And I dont mind, since its near work, and Leah can pick me up on the way there for a quick ‘family’ break.
Although the cookies are apparently very good, the look on Graces face was actually because there were two Policemen in the bakery, and they DID NOT buy donuts and coffee. Oh, and she was also surprised to see that Police people also use phones like ‘normal people’
All I can say is “BAD BAD IDEA” to offer free entry and cheap drinks on the same morning you are trialling craft activities for the kids at a Playcentre.
This pic was on my phone for today, and I had to take a few seconds to work out what it was.
Although it looks a little like some water from above with reef or islands (Yep, im failing my Psych blotter test now) – its actually the tray on my car.
Bloody cold winter weather and dodgy clearcoat paint!
We finally got around to paying a visit to MONA today, after I had read and been told it was good, and there was plenty for the kids to do.
How wrong we were.
It was odd….Very odd. we found it not very exciting, but admittedly the kids did enjoy it, and the weirdness level seemed to be lost on them!
Yep, another post about the odd things that kids do.
This time, as we were moving the kitchen cabinets around to start sorting out the new kitchen layout, they decided that using the cabinets as cubby holes while eating some snacks would be a great idea!
Got the Ute detailed today, ready to advertise to sell.
They did a pretty impressive job, especially considering how utterly filthy it was inside and out after a few years of neglect!
Its nice to see the kids playing together so happily.
While this is not the best angle, they were both laughing out loud (yep geniune LOLs) this morning!
Both kids tonight decided that doing some jumps off the stools after their bath would be a good, calming activity before bed.
Not sure I agree!
