In my previous life I had to read a LOT of scientific papers and I admit most were long and not terribly exciting.
As a result, I always appreciated the Abtract at the beginning, which is supposed to provide a 'brief' summary of the outcome of the paper.
Im confident there were at least a couple I read where the abstract was actually longer than the paper itself!!
I admit though, I always found them insanely difficult to write for my own papers, as I suspect these authors may have done also!!
